Welcome to Scared to Be a Mom. You’re not alone here. It’s our space to confess, vent, and exhale hushed emotions.
Hello, Friend.
Jen Glantz here. It’s Thursday afternoon and I’m 35-weeks pregnant. I’m coming off of a major panic attack as I write this.
This week started off with a jolly little attitude that made me sound like I swallowed a library of self-help books.
But then it happened:
I unraveled. I completely fell apart.
Thank you for letting me inside your inbox today. I have a bunch of new posts from this week that I want to share. More on that below.
I’m writing these posts sporadically, so there won’t really be a lot of consistency here. However, there will be honesty, confessions, and a whole lot of things that perhaps you can relate to - no matter if you’re a mom, pregnant, or unsure if you want to ever be either of those things.
If you know anyone who would benefit from this website, could you do me a gigantic favor and share this with them?
You can send them an email or text and say: I’m reading something funky about becoming a mom. I think you’d get a kick out of it: www.scaredtobeamom.com
Or just hit this button:
Thank you, endlessly.
What’s New on Scared to Be a Mom?
A lot of things.
I tried to start the week repeating positive mantras and swallowing hope. Instead, I ended up in full panic mode. Here’s what happened.
Week 28: You are All Lying to Me
People say a lot of motivational things to you when you are pregnant. I’m sure some of what they say is true, but from this perspective, it feels like a big old lie. This is what I mean.
WTF Do I Need: Pick a Few of These Books
Some of these books were helpful. Some of these books I didn’t like at all.
Confessions: What Advice Do You Have?
What advice would you give someone who is pregnant and scared to be a mom? It doesn’t matter if you’re a mom, pregnant, or someone who is terrified of it all. Share it here in the Confessions tab.
Three Things That Made Me Less Scared This Week:
I asked people for their postpartum recommendations and probably 30 different people sent me this brand because of their nursing and pumping bras. Placing my order this week.
A friend from my birth class asked me what I think my favorite moment with the baby will be. It was the kind of positive energy and convo. I needed. I answered that I can’t wait to talk to the baby and tell her about this life she entered and the world we create here, as a family, that’s just one big thrilling adventure.
I just want to consume all the information I can about birth right now and someone shared this website with me. It’s awesome for exercises, stretches, and information. Here’s all the info. I got this week (week 35) of pregnancy.
Love,
Jen Glantz
